About Us

The Troop

8th Orpington Scouts are a highly successful scout troop that have been running in Orpington for over 50 years. Our success is based on the wide range of activities and opportunities that we offer the Scouts, all supported by a young, dedicated and experienced leadership team. The development of the Scouts is not only provided by the Scout leaders but is started earlier with the Beavers and Cubs and is finished by the Explorers.

The Leaders

The leaders of the Scouts at 8th Orpington all have many years of experience of Scouting, most of which have been gained as part of the 8th! Many of us have passed through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ventures at the 8th before returning as leaders. Our leadership team all share the same passion of Scouting and look to maximise the opportunities for enjoyment for the Scouts we look after.

Our Activities

At the 8th we like our Scouts to learn and experience a wide range of skills from map reading to rock climbing. Below are some examples of the wide range of activities that we undertake on a regular basis:

The Group

8th Orpington Scouts are part of the 8th Orpington Scout Group which also runs very successful Beaver, Cub and Explorer Scout sections, offering Scouting opportunities for 6 - 18 year olds.
